Dec. 6: 'Consumer Analytics'
Institute for Financial Services Analytics sets conference
2:36 p.m., Nov. 20, 2013--The Institute for Financial Services Analytics at the University of Delaware, a joint institute between the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics and the College of Engineering, will hold a conference titled “Consumer Analytics and Industry Applications” from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, in 125 Alfred Lerner Hall.
This year’s conference theme will be on consumer analytics and industry applications. Sessions will focus on how consumer transactional data can be used to gain insights of consumer behaviors and shopping patterns, to help create meaningful segments, and to provide better product offerings and services.

The conference will feature presentations by knowledgeable university professors and industry experts, including:
- Jason Van Hulse, vice president and group manager of business modeling and analytics at JPMorgan Chase;
- Chitra Dorai, IBM Distinguished Engineer and Master Inventor at T. J. Watson Research Center;
- Raj Venkatesan, Bank of America Research Professor of Business Administration at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia; and
- David Schweidel, associate professor of marketing at Goizueta Business School, Emory University.
Van Hulse will speak at 8:50 a.m. on “The Big Data Use Case: Moving Beyond Marketing,” Dorai at 9:25 a.m. on “Translating Insights into Actions,” Venkatesan at 10:20 a.m. on “Customer Analytics in the Era of Big Data” and Schweidel at 10:55 a.m. on “Customer-Centric Marketing.”
A panel discussion by the featured speakers, moderated by Bintong Chen, professor of business administration and director of the IFSA, will begin at 11:30 a.m.
