UD Police charge man for firing gun on campus

3:40 p.m., March 23, 2014--University of Delaware Police have charged a 22-year-old Newark, Del., man after he fired a gun in a campus parking lot around 1:55 a.m., Sunday, March 23.

According to police reports, the suspect was attending a party in Newark, where he got into argument. He left the party in anger and returned to his car, which was parked in UD's parking lot #67, off New London Road. Once at his car, he fired a gun several times into the air.

University of Delaware Police and Newark Police responded immediately to the scene, took the suspect into custody, recovered the weapon and secured the scene. 

Since the suspect was apprehended immediately and there was no ongoing threat, the University did not issue a UD Alert. 

Alex R. Marshall, 22, of Newark, who is not a UD student, has been charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, second degree reckless endangering, terroristic threatening, possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, disorderly conduct and trespass.  

He was arraigned in J.P. Court #11 and released after posting $2,508 secured bond.
