
April 30: Creative writing lecture
Carter featured in Gregory Family Celebration of Creative Writing
8:04 a.m., April 22, 2014--Catherine Carter, a University of Delaware alumna and professor at Western Carolina University, will be the featured speaker in the Gregory Family Celebration of Creative Writing from 5-6 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, in 103 Gore Hall.
Carter, born on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, coordinates the English education program at Western Carolina. She received a doctorate in English language and literature from UD in 1999.

She is the author of the book The Swamp Monster at Home, published in 2012 by the Louisiana State University Press, and The Memory of Gills, which received the 2007 Roanoke-Chowan Award from the North Carolina Literary and Historical Association.
Her poem Toast won the 2009 North Carolina Writer’s Network Randall Jarrell award and Woolly Adelgid won the poetry award for Still: The Journal in 2013.
The event is sponsored by UD’s Department of English. A reception will follow the presentation in the Dome on the third floor of Memorial Hall.
