Leadership lecture
Thomas Connelly of DuPont to present inaugural President's Leadership lecture
3 p.m., Oct. 24, 2012--Thomas M. Connelly Jr., executive vice president and chief innovation officer at DuPont, will present the inaugural lecture in the President's Leadership Series on Monday, Nov. 19, at the University of Delaware.
He will discuss "Universities and Business: Partnering for the Knowledge Society," beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Gore Recital Hall of the Roselle Center for the Arts, 110 Orchard Rd., Newark. A reception will follow the talk.

Connelly, who joined DuPont in 1977 as research engineer at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, has held a number of leadership roles with the company in the United States, Europe and Asia.
His current responsibilities include the geographic regions outside the United States, industrial biosciences, the performance coatings and materials businesses, science and technology and integrated operations, which includes operations, sourcing & logistics and engineering.
Previously, Connelly led a number of major DuPont business, including Delrin, Kevlar and Teflon.
He has served in advisory roles to the U.S. government and the Republic of Singapore.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Connelly graduated with highest honors from Princeton University with degrees in chemical engineering and economics. As a Winston Churchill Scholar, he received his doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge.
The President's Lecture Series is held twice a year and features prominent leaders of business, technology, athletics, the arts and humanities.
The Nov. 19 event will include recognition of DuPont's recent $5 million gift in support of the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory.
