Ninth annual Downtown Newark Food and Brew Festival planned
8:07 a.m., July 11, 2012--The ninth annual Downtown Newark Food and Brew Festival will be held Saturday, July 28.
Hosted by Out and About magazine and the Downtown Newark Partnership, of which the University of Delaware is a member, the festival will feature more than 40 craft and imported beers paired with creative food offerings at 17 Newark restaurants.

June 6-9: Food and culture series
Guests will travel from restaurant to restaurant to sample the featured beers and tasty dishes. Tickets are not required, as this is a pay as you go event.
Those who participate will need a state-issued photo identification card because beer samples are only available to those who are at least 21 years of age.
Beer tastings and food specials begin at 2 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. The first 2,500 guests will receive a commemorative five-ounce tasting mug. The mugs will be available at all participating restaurants and at the information booth. Guests can sample one of the restaurant's featured beers for $1.
A day-of-event program will be available at the restaurants and at the information booth located at the Academy Building lawn on the corner of Main and Academy streets.
The all-day event features the popular "Hops and Shops" sidewalk sale beginning at noon and showcasing the goods and wares offered by downtown merchants.
Strolling musicians and balloon decorations line the street, keeping guests in the festive spirit while shopping and strolling downtown. Out and About magazine is hosting a root beer tasting stand for kids on the Academy Building lawn until 6 p.m. or until supplies run out, whichever comes first.
There is plenty of parking for this event. Municipal parking lots are conveniently located throughout downtown. A complimentary, air conditioned shuttle will take guests to convenient stops located near all of the participating restaurants. The shuttle will run from 4-8:30 p.m.
