Marriott making moves
Courtyard Newark undergoes lobby renovations
6:58 p.m., July 20, 2012--The Marriott Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware, which opened its doors in 2004, now has a modernized lobby layout with new food, drink and media amenities for guests to enjoy.
Upon entering the hotel, guests will find a 24-7 market with food and beverage options to help satisfy late night snack cravings. Updated alternative dining options include a bistro that serves Starbucks coffee and is open for breakfast and dinner.

Located across from the 24-7 market and bistro are media pods--private booths with high-definition televisions, as well as additional flexible seating and entertainment options.
A communal table is available for group meetings or solo guests alike, while family guests interested in entertainment options can enjoy the night with their family at the home theatre.
“I’ve been here for years and this is the best design I have seen in the Marriott hotels,” said Bill Sullivan, managing director of the Courtyard Newark. “It complements UD’s colors and creates a comfortable atmosphere everyone can enjoy.”
The complementary colors Sullivan referred to appear in the lobby bar, a well-lit new attraction that offers full bar service to hotel guests and visitors to the University. The bar décor features UD’s colors, and pictures of various sports teams and Lerner College hang throughout the lobby.
In addition to these new services, Sullivan said guests can always enjoy free coffee in the main lobby and outside dining on the patio.
The Marriott GoBoard is another signature component of the hotel’s renovations. The 52-inch LCD touch screen allows guests to virtually explore sports, weather, news from USA Today and even get directions to local restaurants. A convenient and complimentary feature called Quick Print allows guests to print directions, check flight status or print boarding passes.
