Aristigueta, who will leave for Italy in mid-September, will work closely with the department to widen its international network, explore new fields and research methodologies, and assist in curriculum development.
In addition to her work in administration, she will also present graduate-level lectures and conduct comparative research on performance management systems in Italy.
The School of Public Policy and Administration has had a memorandum of understanding with the University of Salerno since 2008, and has since hosted visiting scholars as well as a current doctoral student.
Aristigueta said she hopes her experience as a Fulbright Specialist will further cement and expand partnerships between the two institutions.
“I look forward to the opportunity to build this overseas relationship,” she said. “I envision this will provide our students and faculty with further opportunities for exchange in study abroad, research and other academic endeavors.”
Following her position as Fulbright Specialist in Italy, Aristigueta said she plans to spend time conducting research in South Africa with SPPA alumni.
During her sabbatical, Leland Ware, the Louis L. Redding Chair for the Study of Law and Public Policy, will serve as acting director of SPPA.
