Stateside performances
On Jan. 19, Gao was the only soloist invited by Zhang Yesui, Chinese ambassador to the United States, to perform solo at the Meridian International Center in Washington, D.C., during the official event hosted by the ambassador. The event had a guest list featuring VIPs from all over the nation’s capital and abroad and was held in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
On Jan. 22, Gao’s crossover duet 6ixwire Project made its Music Center at Strathmore solo debut. Strathmore, located in Maryland, is one of the world’s most prestigious concert venues in performing arts and the Maryland home of the Baltimore Symphony and National Symphony Orchestra.
In February, 6ixwire Project was featured making its UD jazz debut as guest artists in the University's Master Players Concert Series.

April: iMusic 5
Gao’s next local appearance will be at 8 p.m. on April 20-21 in UD's Mitchell Hall for "iMusic5: Encounters," created and produced by Gao, written by Jeanne Walker and directed by Anne Marie Cammarato.
Gao said it will be the most spectacular iMusic production in its history.
Scholars and artists from many of the world’s leading institutions will join Gao to create a theatrical multimedia concert that takes the audience back to the last golden period of the imperial China, the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Through music, visual presentations and drama, the audience will experience the impact of the encounters between cultures as artistically interpreted by performing artists and experts of multiple disciplines.
This concert is the first of the Encounters Series, which introduces historically significant music, languages, literatures, history, philosophy, religions and other art forms under one guise to promote cultural understanding and exchange.
