Senior Class Gift campaign gets under way

11:06 a.m., April 11, 2012--The 2012 Senior Class Gift campaign is off to a great start.  

So far, 100 seniors have made a financial gift back to UD in honor of their senior year.

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

This year, all gifts from seniors will be matched, dollar for dollar, by alumnus Ken Whitney, a 1980 graduate of the Lerner College of Business and Economics and member of UD's Board of Trustees. 

Last week, a record-breaking 325 seniors attended the campaign kick-off at Kildare’s Irish Pub on Main Street and enjoyed food, music and the opportunity to connect with fellow classmates.

This week, seniors can stop by the Senior Class Gift table at Resapalooza from 2-5 p.m., Friday, April 13, on the North Green.  The first 20 seniors to visit the table will receive a free 2012 T-shirt.

Seniors are encouraged to join the Class of 2012 Facebook group to receive updates on campaign activities.
