May 7: Volleyball spring fling
UD women's volleyball team plans annual benefit tournament
1:44 p.m., March 22, 2011--The second annual Spring Fling outdoor grass volleyball tournament to benefit the University of Delaware women’s volleyball team is set for Saturday, May 7. The event is open to men, women and children of all ages and all experience levels.
There are seven different divisions. The corporate fours division is for any combination of males and females who make a donation of at least $500. Men’s A and Women’s A are for experienced teams of two. Men’s B and Women’s B are for intermediate teams of two, co-ed fours are for teams comprised of men and women at all levels of experience, and the 17 and under division is for teams of two, both girls and boys, under the age of 17.

More than 20 outdoor grass courts will be set up on Frazer Field behind the Carpenter Sports Building on UD’s campus. Throughout the day there will be live music, local vendors, free T-shirts for all participants, prizes, giveaways, and family fun activities.
Team registration begins at 8 a.m. Tournament play will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the championship rounds will follow and go until all winners are determined. All top place finishers will receive prizes. Each team is guaranteed at least three competitions during tournament play and single elimination will begin at the start of championship play.
The cost to enter the tournament is $25 per player and $20 per person for all UD students. All proceeds will benefit the University of Delaware women’s volleyball team.
