Christopher Bensch began as Curator of Furnishings at Strong Museum in Rochester, New York in 1989 and moved into the position of Chief Curator in 2000. His collections responsibilities include a wide array of small housewares, ranging from cut glass and hand-painted porcelain tableware, cast iron cookware and kerosene lamps, to record albums and televisions, Big Mac boxes and Halloween costumes. He has served as curator for numerous Strong Museum exhibits, such as Betty Boop to Barney: Make-Believe Characters Invade the Marketplace, Unearthing the Secret Life of Stuff: Americans and the Environment, and Can You Tell Me How To Get To Sesame Street? Before moving to Strong Museum, Chris was Curator of Decorative Arts at the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute in Utica, New York from 1983 to 1989. |
