Hospital Viruses: Fake cancerous nodes created by malware in CT scans

A proof of concept by researchers is meant to draw attention to security vulnerabilities in healthcare equipment in spectacular - and deeply troubling - fashion. The team at the Ben-Gurion University Cyber Security Research Center in Israel has created malware capable of showing fake cancerous nodes in CT scans, and has suggested that the same principles could also be used to hide real cancerous growths and other maladies in patients. The pressure is on medical institutions and equipment manufacturers to take security to heart.
