Local Support Provider

Local Support Provider

A local support provider (LSP) is an individual or unit with primary responsibility for the installation, configuration, security, and ongoing maintenance of an IT device.

IT professionals may serve as designated LSPs. IT, as a unit, may also serve as a designated LSP or as the default LSP in cases where the unit head has not identified another LSP for an IT device.

LSPs are broadly responsible for technically implementing their unit's information security requirements and procedures as described in the unit information security plan and the unit guide to managing data risks.
