Where to Live

Living on campus is a smart choice for students. Within the walls of our residence halls, students are provided unique opportunities to learn, to contribute, to thrive and to achieve. Residential students are exposed to connections and resources that help the create their own once-in-a-lifetime college experience.

University of Delaware residence halls house over 7,000 students in various areas of campus. Resident Assistants live in all buildings to serve as a support for students and to help them find ways to engage in residence hall and University life so as to enhance their educational experience at UD.

To maintain secure halls, we partner with students, who are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and University policies and expectations. All halls are locked 24 hours a day, doors are alarmed to prevent propping and a card entry system allow access to only those with permission to enter the building.

All halls are smoke free and include staff offices, where residents can get assistance from a Residence Life & Housing staff member; shared lounges, laundry and kitchen facilities; TVs with cable; mailboxes; and quiet and group study spaces. Not all residence halls have air conditioning. Those that don't have air conditioning are noted with an asterisk (*) in the Building Demographics chart below.

The majority of our residence halls are co-ed. Some residence halls with single-sex floors are noted accordingly. The University of Delaware also offers upper-division undergraduate students an all gender housing option.

Housing Options

Traditional Rooms - One, two, three or four students share one room with communal bathrooms on each floor.

Suite-style Rooms - Two rooms that each house one, two or three students and are divided by a shared semi-private bath. Some suites are individual rooms that connect to a private bath.

Apartments - One- or two-bedroom apartments where students share a bathroom, kitchen and common living area. One-bedroom apartments house two students and two-bedroom apartments house four students.

Our residence halls provide a variety of community options, including Living Learning Communities (LLCs) and Other Housing Options. Unless otherwise noted, the Housing Options listed occupy a section of the residence hall, not the entire building.
