Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act of 1974

 

FERPA governs the use and disclosure of personally identifiable information in student records. The University’s FERPA policy is available here. The University’s FERPA notice and other information about how the University uses and discloses student records can be found by clicking the link below.

The Office of General Counsel’s Chief Privacy Officer can assist in determining whether the records at issue are FERPA records or whether other federal or state laws govern their use or disclosure. Questions about the University’s compliance with FERPA can be directed to the Office of General Counsel’s Chief Privacy Officer at 302-831-7263 or at PrivacyOfficer@udel.edu. The Registrar’s Office serves as a resource for faculty and staff regarding using and appropriate disclosure of student records under FERPA. Questions can be directed to registrar@udel.edu.

If you suspect someone at the University is using or disclosing personally identifiable information from student records contrary to the University’s FERPA policy, or if you believe a breach of this information has occurred, you must report the incident to the Registrar’s Office at registrar@udel.edu.
