International Student Advisory Committee

Office for International Students and Scholars

The International Student Advisory Committee (ISAC) provides a forum for communication and feedback between representatives of the international student community and the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) at the University of Delaware. The committee works closely with OISS to assess and develop programming initiatives that contribute to a positive student experience, enhance engagement and ensure the success of international students during their time at the University and in the United States. Members of ISAC play a leadership role in representing the international student voice and perspective, which is essential to the OISS mission of promoting and facilitating intercultural understanding and global awareness at the University of Delaware.

    Ashish Chouhan

    Ashish Chouhan India

    Ashish is a PhD student in the mechanical engineering department at UD. He earned his bachelor's degree from IIT Bombay in India. He is highly interested in learning about different cultures, one of the many reasons why he likes interacting and making friends with people from all around the globe. He developed his love for photography at UD and whenever he manages to get some free time, he likes to hit the outdoors to shoot. He is passionate about traveling and you'll always find him planning and prepping for his next trip, be it hiking, camping, or a solo trip to some other country. He likes to spend most of his evenings playing squash, learning languages and cooking. He is a regular attendee at the weekly OISS Coffee Hour. Being an international student himself, he is aware of different challenges that students face, and with ISAC, he aims to help the international community with whatever experience he has gained in the past one year of being in UD.

    Hiral Master

    Hiral Master

    Hiral is a licensed physical therapist pursuing her Ph.D. in Biomechanical and Movement Science at UD. After obtaining a Bachelor degree from Mumbai, India, Hiral got her Master’s Degree in Public Health (Biostatistics) at University of North Texas. She has been involved in various volunteering activities that promote health education. Hiral’s hobbies include dancing and Yoga. During her free time, she enjoys biking, exploring new places, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Hiral has been in United States for three years and feels that she understands the troubles and hardships an international student would face when they come to a completely new country. Hiral believes ISAC would serve as an excellent platform where she can help other international students through her experiences in the US.

    Miles Miller

    Miles Miller South Africa

    Miles is a first year Master’s student at the University of Delaware’s school of Public Policy, where his research is currently focused on drug dealing and incarceration in Wilmington, DE. With regards to extra-curricular activities, Miles enjoys anything that involves a beach, whether it be beach volleyball, surfing, or just falling asleep on the sand. Other hobbies include going to the gym, parkour and spending as much time on a soccer field as humanly possible. Amongst his favorite things to do in Delaware, Miles loves ice-skating at the UD ice rink, playing soccer at the Perkins student center and hiking through the various state parks in the Greater Newark Area. Originally from South Africa, Miles feels that he would be an asset to ISAC as his experiences in the United States as an international student gives him the perspective to help others obtain the best that they possibly can out of the opportunities provided to them through the University of Delaware.

    Ugochukwo Nsofor

    Ugochukwu J. Nsofor Nigeria

    Originally from Nigeria, Ugo is a PhD Candidate in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UD and has served as a Global OISS Ambassador (GOA) at the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) since June 2014. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo in Nigeria and his Master’s degree in the same field from the University of Delaware. Ugo supports the OISS in the planning, implementation and coordination of services and programs that help enhance the experience of international students and scholars at UD. His helps OISS with promoting interaction between international and domestic students through social, educational, and cultural activities and programs. Ugo is excited about this opportunity to work with the OISS as an ISAC member and sees this as an opportunity to help improve the experience of international students at UD.

    Saurabhi Satam

    Saurabhi SatamIndia

    Saurabhi is a graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree in Biotechnology (Professional Science Masters). She completed her undergraduate degree in Biotechnology from The University of Mumbai, India. She joined the extensive community at UD in Spring 2016 and was completely awestruck. Saurabhi is an avid fan of travelling. Being a trained Indian Classical Dancer, she is very fond of dancing and has a new found love for Zumba here at UD. She love trying new things, from cuisines to adventure sports to meeting new people. Saurabhi believes that UD has many things to offer and OISS bridges the gap for international students, allowing students to explore and widen their horizons while at UD. She is thrilled to be a part of ISAC and appreciate the chance to give back to the student community.

    Yixin Zhang

    Yixin Zhang China

    Yixin is an undergraduate student at the University of Delaware studying International Relations and Global Studies. She graduated from the English Language Institute (ELI) before attending the University of Delaware. Yixin is a regular attendee at the International Coffee Hour as she loves making friends from all over the world. She enjoys helping new students through her experiences of being an international student in a new country. In her free time, she plays the PiPa which is a Chinese traditional instrument. It makes her feel right at home. She also likes to participate in Zumba and loves to hike.
