About Us

The Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) serves as a critical resource for UD's international community, providing information and support for the challenges of living, studying and working in a different culture, as well as celebrating the presence of international students and scholars on campus and their important contributions to the University's research and teaching missions.

The University of Delaware's historic Elliott Hall at 26 E. Main Street serves as the home for OISS. Erected during the American Revolution in 1777, Elliott Hall remains one of Newark's oldest and most iconic buildings. Our location places us at the center of the cultural crossroads of our campus, between Old College, the Department of Languages, Literatures, & Cultures, and the "Little Bob."

Our Mission

The mission of the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) is to establish and provide support services for international students, scholars and families at the University of Delaware.

  • To advise international students, scholars, dependents, and University departments on compliance with U.S. immigration laws and regulations related to F, J and H visa categories.
  • To conduct orientations and other programs that assist international visitors with their adjustment to the U.S. culture and academic success at UD.
  • To support the University's global initiative and campus internationalization efforts by providing programming opportunities for cross-cultural interactions and engagement.
