Dear UD Community,

Early this morning, two Delaware State University students were injured in a reported shooting on the DSU campus in Dover. We are truly saddened to hear this terrible news. Based on information available at this time, there does not appear to be any threat to the University of Delaware campus communities in Dover, Newark or other locations in the state. If necessary, alerts to the UD community will be sent via the LiveSafe app.

Police are still investigating the incident, which happened outside the Wellness and Recreation Center. The victims were taken to a local hospital, and authorities have not yet provided information on their conditions.

Our hearts go out to the students, faculty, staff, families and everyone within and beyond the DSU community affected by this incident. The horror surrounding such a violent act is shocking to everyone, and we will continue to keep the DSU Hornet family in our thoughts as they cope with the full impact of this tragedy in the days ahead. I have reached out to DSU President Tony Allen to offer our continued support in any way possible.

All universities share a critical mission to build a better, more peaceful world through education, compassion and service to others. As a connected community, we must never waiver from that commitment.

Sincerely,
