Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

We write to share hard news with our community. The Newark Police Department has confirmed that a University of Delaware student is among those who were injured in last night’s shooting (New Release Update #3). The investigation is still ongoing.

We are sending strength to this student and to everyone who was harmed, with the whole Blue Hen community behind them. While there are questions about the student’s condition and identity, we will not be sharing additional personal details out of respect for their privacy.

In the days ahead, please continue to look out for one another, and reach out for support — resources are listed on the Campus Alerts page.

Yours in UD,
Laura and José
