What is the CHMM Certification?

The Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) has offered the CHMM certification since 1984. The certification provides a nationally recognized standard for identifying professionals who have demonstrated knowledge and competence in hazardous materials management. The CHMM Program is accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards.

The IHMM reviews applications for eligibility to sit for the CHMM certification exam. Certification as either a senior or master level CHMM is contingent upon education, experience and a passing score on the CHMM examination. You must submit an application to the IHMM at least 6 weeks prior to the examination date in order to sit for the exam. You can get the application by contacting:

IHMM
11900 Parklawn Drive
Rockville, MD 20852
Telephone (301) 984-8969

Additional requirements and more detail about the exam can be obtained by visiting the IHMM website.
