UD Central Exchange: Mobile Devices

When you set up your email account using a mobile phone, you may not see all the setting options listed below. If, after entering the specified information you cannot connect, look for an Advanced Settings option where it may be possible to enter the additional required information.

Note: We currently block Central Exchange access from Outlook for Android and iOS (iPad, iPod, iPhone). These apps require email to be managed by a third party and therefore present an increased security risk.

Follow the directions listed below to use other mobile email apps with UD Central Exchange.

iPhone and iPad Settings

  1. Tap the Settings icon on the device.
  2. Choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Choose Add Account.
  4. Choose Microsoft Exchange.
  5. In the email field, type <Your UDelNet ID>@win.udel.edu
  6. In the domain field, type win.udel.edu
  7. In the username field, type <Your UDelNet ID>.
  8. In the password field, type your UDelNet password.
  9. Tap Next.
  10. Tap Continue at any warnings about server security.
  11. In the server field, type: owa.win.udel.edu
  12. Tap Next to complete.

Android Settings (Version A)

  1. Choose Settings.
  2. Choose Accounts and Sync.
  3. Choose Add Account.
  4. Choose Corporate.
  5. Type your email address as <Your UDelNet ID>@win.udel.edu
  6. Type your UDelNet password.
  7. Choose Next.
  8. Under Domain\username, type win\<Your UDelNet ID>
  9. Under Server, type owa.win.udel.edu
  10. Choose Use secure connection.
  11. A Remote Security Administration box appears with the text: The server owa.win.udel.edu requires that you allow it to remotely control some security features of your phone. Do you wish to finish setting up this account?
  12. Choose OK.
  13. Choose options for sync amounts and notification.
  14. Choose Next.
  15. Give the account a name (e.g., "Win Exchange").
  16. Choose Done.

Android Settings--Mail Client Setup (Version B)

  1. From your mail application, choose Settings.
  2. For the account, type <Your UDelNet ID>@win.udel.edu and your associated password.
  3. Choose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
  4. Choose OK to allow owa.win.udel.edu to remotely control security features.
  5. Change settings as desired.
  6. Activate the account as a device administrator.

Direct Settings

  1. Server: owa.win.udel.edu and uncheck Use Cached Exchange Mode.
  2. Name: <Your UDelNet ID>@win.udel.edu
  3. Connection: Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP.
  4. Proxy settings:
    1. URL: https://owa.win.udel.edu
    2. Connect using SSL only - check
    3. Only with checked
    4. msstd: owa.win.udel.edu
    5. On fast: http first, then tcpip -checked
    6. On slow: http first, then tcpip - checked
  5. Click Basic Authentication.

IMAP Settings


In order to send Exchange email from off campus while using an IMAP client, you must connect to the UD VPN service prior to logging in to your Exchange account. (VPN Directions)

  1. Incoming mail server: owa.win.udel.edu
    1. Incoming mail server: SSL
    2. Port: 993
  2. Outgoing mail server: hub.win.udel.edu
    1. Port: 587
    2. Username:<Your UDelNet ID>@win.udel.edu
    3. Authentication Method: Password associated with your UDelNet ID
    4. Connections Security: Starttls
