   Research assistantships are available to qualified students,
including first-year students. These appointments are usually for
twelve months and are made possible by grants and research contracts.
Students engaged in such work use their results in their graduate
theses. In addition, several industrial fellowships, teaching
assistantships, and government fellowships are available.
