TOM SEGEV is a historian and a weekly columnist for Ha'aretz, Israel's leading newspaper. He is author of six books that have been translated in seven languages, including Israel: 1949: The First Israelis, The Seventh Million: The Israelis and the Holocaust, and One Palestine, Complete: Jews and Arabs under the British Mandate, a New York Times editors' choice best book for 2000. His most recent book is 1967 – Israel, the War and the Year That Transformed the Middle East. He has just completed the first fully documented biography of Simon Wiesenthal, to be published by the end of 2009.
He was born in 1945 in Jerusalem, and continues to live there.
