After completing this unit, you will be able to:
Read Chapter 31 of the Multimedia Literacy textbook to study the concepts covered by this unit. When you complete a presentation, such as the History of Flight application you created in Chapters 26-30, there are a few finishing touches you will want to make. Chapter 31 steps you through the process of providing the user with a way to exit gracefully and navigate more completely. Then you learn how to save the application as a show, rehearse it thoroughly, and prepare speaker's notes and audience handouts
Although users can always pull down the Files menu and choose Quit to leave your application, it is better to provide a more graceful way to exit. This chapter shows how to hang a customized Exit sign on the History of Flight home screen. The customized exit sign features a parachutist leaving the screen. The exit sign is found on your Multilit CD in the following file:
If you are interested in finding more action buttons, follow the Multilit Web site link to the button vault and button-making sites where you can make your own buttons.
There is no specific assignment required in this unit, which is part of the History of Flight tutorial. The purpose of this tutorial is to step you through the process of creating a multimedia application based on a picture menu that provides the user with navigational options that appear onscreen within the context of a consistent user interface. Due to the progressive nature of the History of Flight tutorial, there are no end-of-chapter exercises. You do not need to hand in the History of Flight application unless your instructor has told you specifically to do so. You are nevertheless encouraged to complete this tutorial, which will provide you with valuable experience and knowledge that can inform the design and creation of your own multimedia application that you must submit to your instructor toward the end of the course.
