a. Rationale
for creation, revision, or deletion:
We are requesting that the title of this major be
changed from “Education” to “Curriculum and Instruction” and that the title of
the concentration be changed from “Curriculum and Instruction” to “Science
Education”. The proposed change will
enable graduates of the program to meet certification requirements as a
Secondary Science teacher. There are no
course changes requested at this time.
Please note that according to the admissions
requirements, students entering this program must have completed a bachelor’s
or graduate degree in biology, chemistry, physics, geology, engineering or
other science related fields. Upon
admission into the program, their transcripts are evaluated by the relevant
academic department (biology, chemistry, physics, geology) at UD to determine
if all academic major degree requirements, as specified in our State Approved
undergraduate degree programs, have been met.
Students will be required to complete any deficiencies, either through
undergraduate or graduate courses, in their academic content area.
