a. Rationale for
creation, revision, or deletion:
We
received two suggestions for clarification of the wording of the Honors
requirement from the Honors program office, and wish to incorporate these.
b. Summary of program:
We append the B.A. Physics
requirements below. We do not propose to
make any changes in them. Here are our
slightly revised proposed Honors requirements:
HONORS
BACHELOR OF ARTS: PHYSICS
The recipient must complete:
1. All requirements for the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physics
2. All of the University’s generic requirements for the Honors
Baccalaureate Degree
3. At least 7 of the 12 Honors credits required in the major
must be in Honors PHYS courses. The
remaining Honors credits in the major may come from related courses required
for the major.
Note: Courses at the 600-level or higher in physics may be
considered as Honors courses.
For comparison, here is the existing
wording:
HONORS
BACHELOR OF ARTS: PHYSICS
The recipient must complete:
1. All requirements for the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physics
2. All of the University’s generic requirements for the Honors
Baccalaureate Degree
3. At least 7 of the Honors course credits must be in physics.
Note: Courses at the 600-level or higher in physics beyond the
course requirements for the BA degree may be considered as Honors courses.

the Physics faculty to consider the need for
additional introductory courses, for
which some additional credit toward
graduation may be given with permission of
the Physics chair.
