a. Rationale
for creation, revision, or deletion:
MUED179 Freshman Seminar in Music Education was
developed in order to provide Music Education students with an early exposure
to the issues and challenges of Music Education. It is important for students to begin their work in this program
in their first semester, and for them to understand better the nature of their
academic path. The course also allows
the Music Education faculty an early opportunity to evaluate the student’s
potential and suitability for the field.
b. Summary
of program:
Under Music Methods: Add MUED179
Freshman Seminar in Music Education (1 Credit). This adds one credit hour to each program.
DEGREE: BACHELOR OF MUSIC
MAJOR: MUSIC EDUCATION–INSTRUMENTAL
CONCENTRATION: PRINCIPAL INSTRUMENT
The concentration designates the student’s principal instrument. A list of instrumental options can be obtained from the Department or the College of Arts and Science Advisement Center.
