List program changes for
curriculum revisions:
The
first two paragraphs in requirements of
a minor in mathematics in the ’03-‘04 catalog remain unchanged.
The
correct wording is in the current catalog.
Courses
which are cross-listed with a Mathematical Sciences MATH course may also be
counted toward the minor. Courses in
mathematics education (e.g. MATH 308, 379, 380 and 382) may be counted toward
the minor.
List new courses required for
the new or revised curriculum:
(Be aware that approval
of the curriculum is dependent upon these courses successfully passing through
the Course Challenge list. If there are no new courses enter “None”)
None
Other affected units:
(List other departments affected by this new or revised
curriculum. Attach permission from the
affected units. If no other unit is
affected, enter “None”)
Rationale:
(Explain your reasons for creating, revising, or deleting the
curriculum or program.)
Since some courses have been deleted or re-numbered, we plan
to modify the statements of requirements for a minor in mathematics. The total number of required credits stays
the same.
Requirements for a
Minor in Mathematics
A student seeking a minor in mathematics must obtain permission from the chairperson or his designee in the Department of Mathematical Sciences.
Course requirements consist of a total of 18 credits in MATH courses offered by the Department of Mathematical Sciences, to include 9 credits above MATH 302. In order to count toward the minor, a grade of C- or better is required. MATH 341 and MATH 351 are not considered above MATH 302 since they are comparable courses from a different track. However, MATH 342 and MATH 352 may be counted as above MATH 302, provided MATH 349 is not included in the count.
Courses which are cross-listed with a Mathematical Sciences
MATH course may also be counted toward the minor. Courses in mathematics education (e.g., MATH
308, 379, 380, 382) may not be counted towards the minor.
Program Requirements:
(Show the new or revised curriculum as it should appear in the
Course Catalog. If this is a revision,
be sure to indicate the changes being made to the present curriculum.)
