(Explain your reasons for creating, revising, or deleting the

Following the resignation of Richard Bacon, the ATED Major has undergone a review by the Chair, faculty, state officials, and agricultural education students. The review was an important step to revise the major, particularly in light of new requirements for Technology Education. The national standards for technology education, revised after we added this area to our program, have necessitated that we drop this area from our curriculum. We have no ability to meet the new requirements which will mean that any student who graduates with this degree will not be certified by the national organization, and thus will not be qualified to teach. Since there were very few students in this concentration, we were advised to drop technology education form our concentration options. Since there would only be one concentration left, we decided to:
Revise the name of the major to Agricultural Education, drop Technology Education concentration and make the major solely as Agricultural Education
The review process also noted that we should add two introductory level courses (100 and 200 level) to enhance the experience and better prepare our students for teaching agricultural education. The following reflects the changes we have recommended and were voted on by the Department of Food and Resource Economics.
