Steps:

 

Introduce or expose students to a problematic situation or area of uncertainty.

Invite students to…

  1. Formulate question(s) to guide the investigation.
  2. Propose preliminary explanations or hypotheses.
  3. Plan and conduct an investigation (research or experiment).
  4. Gather evidence through research, observation, or experiment.
  5. Explain the conclusion, interpretation, or theory based on evidence.
  6. Consider other explanations.
  7. Formulate a final conclusion.
