Delaware First Media and the University of Delaware’s Center for Political Communication partnered to host nonpartisan Delaware Debates 2010 for major candidates for the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives seats from Delaware. Candidates discussed national and state issues in their premiere televised debates of the political season, on the University of Delaware campus. Trusted former Delaware Public Television news anchor Nancy Karibjanian moderated both debates. CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer joined Nancy to co-moderate the U.S. Senate debate. Both debates also featured questions to the candidates from University of Delaware students.
Participants in the debates were determined by Delaware’s primary election on September 14, 2010, and by the rules of inclusion set by the sponsors of the debates.
Each debate was televised live from Mitchell Hall at the University of Delaware’s Newark campus. The video and audio feeds were available to all news media, and the debates were webcast publicly, both live and archived for playback.
