11. Will you tell us what labs and web sites are relevant for our report and presentation (i.e., arguments and explanations)?
This course is devoted to inspiring your quest to understand the central concepts in earth science and to understand how scientists do what they do. Scientists propose and develop theories, test them against the evidence, change them, and use this knowledge as a tool for making predictions and improving our understanding of the world. The portfolio project should foster, not reduce, critical thought, creativity, productive effort, collaboration, and ultimately, true learning. My answer to the above question is that collaborating teams should be able to assess and figure out the relevance of labs and web sites to their arguments. Pose this question to teammates: "Does this lab help us to fulfill the requirements set forth by Newcastle County? If so, how? If not, why not?"
