<P>This unit, Writing a Narrative: Learning to Write About an Experience relates narrative writing and a trip to the zoo for first graders. I want my students to learn how write complete sentences, while learning how to write a narrative. In this seminar, I am looking to learn ways to build confidence in my 1st graders in their ability to write and tell their own experience in their own words through writing. </P>

<P>In this unit, Going to the Zoo and Life at the Zoo, students will discuss and learn the difference between a narrative text (non-fiction) and an entertaining text (fiction), and how it relates to the different types of writing. We will focus on the narrative writing component and how it relates to our writing about our trip to the zoo.  These texts will help frontload information for students who have never been to the zoo. </P>
