journaling in the classroom

This is a unit created with early elementary students in mind that has activities designed to be used as a way to help students use and understand comics and the use of journals in the classroom. The activities within the unit can be used in a whole group setting but could be used in small groups during intervention time if reinforcement is needed. They could be used as a pre-teaching before starting a unit or as a re-teaching after lack of mastery on a formative or summative assessment during the English Language Arts period. Before beginning each of the activities there are journal pages that can be printed for each student created in the appendixes. These can be copied or done within a Composition notebook. This would be at the discretion of the teacher. By creating a journal for each of the students the teacher will have a place for students to write and think during ELA instruction.
