The University of Delaware's Executive MBA is a fast-paced, 19-month program. All students attend the same classes together. The Executive MBA provides all the essential knowledge enrichment and skill-building courses as the traditional MBA program, but is intensified and accelerated for those with the experience and capability to handle the pace. The program is further characterized by the exceptional nature of its participants - both the professors who teach the courses and the students selected to participate.
Following a five-day residency at the beginning of the program, classes meet Friday evenings (4-9 p.m.) and all day Saturdays (7:45a.m.-5:15p.m.) in Arsht Hall at the University's Wilmington campus (convenient to Wilmington's downtown business district and I-95).
This format gives participants maximum flexibility to work around travel and business schedules. Assignments are strategically structured to minimize the amount of time that must be spent on campus.
In addition to meeting the requirements demanded of all the University's MBA candidates, candidates for the Executive MBA program are expected to have at least five years of professional business experience.
The most important feature of any MBA program is the practicality and quality of its curriculum. The University of Delaware, in response to ongoing surveys and focus group research, has fine-tuned its curriculum to better prepare graduates for success in the globally competitive environment of 21st century business.
The course descriptions illustrate an exceptional Executive MBA curriculum designed to develop vital traditional skills related to accounting, economics, finance, operations and marketing. In addition, the program provides a foundation for:
The self-contained curriculum requires no outside prerequisites, although basic skills in word processing, spreadsheet utilization and mathematics are expected.
The Executive MBA program begins with a five-day residence period held at a retreat center. Here, in a peaceful, isolated setting, each student participates in - and completes - the entire Titans, Teams and Technology course. This immediate immersion into the program is designed to develop teamwork and leadership skills and to lay the foundation for cooperative working relationships among colleagues who are about to share one of the most valuable - and intense - experiences of their careers.
Subsequent classes meet Friday evenings and Saturdays in Arsht Hall at the University's Wilmington campus. Catered meals, including dinner on Fridays and breakfast and lunch on Saturdays, are provided. The class - consisting of no more than 35 students - participates in three courses per term for five terms. In order to ensure maximum breadth and depth, most courses are predetermined, leaving room for three elective courses to be selected based largely on class composition. As you will note on the calendar (in the back pocket), the schedule incorporates holidays, mid-semester breaks and a three-month summer hiatus.
