Delaware’s Drummonds named to all-rookie team
UD freshman field hockey standout Michelle Drummonds has been named to a national all-rookie team.
11 a.m., Nov. 24, 2007--University of Delaware freshman Michelle Drummonds was named to the national all-rookie team as selected by the Web site, WomensFieldHockey.com.

Drummonds, a first-year back for the Fightin' Blue Hens, finished the season as the third leading scorer on the team with 14 points and seven goals. During the year, she recorded her first career goal against Rutgers, and then added scores against Monmouth, Penn, Duke and Drexel. Against Virginia Commonwealth, she had the first multi-goal game of her career, scoring twice in the team's 5-4 overtime victory.

Drummonds was joined on the all-rookie team by fellow Colonial Athletic Association players Dolores de Rooij of James Madison and Loran Hatch of Old Dominion. Katie O'Donnell, a freshman at Maryland, was named the rookie of the year after leading the nation in scoring, averaging 2.52 points-per-game.

A native of Elkton, Md., Drummonds is a health and physical education major.
