Blue Hen tennis teams defeat George Mason
UD senior Susan Pollack won at No. 1 singles in the victory over George Mason.
8:32 a.m., March 26, 2008--The University of Delaware swept host George Mason University in Colonial Athletic Association matches played Tuesday afternoon in Fairfax, Va. The Fightin' Blue Hens men's team won 6-1 and the women's team won 7-0.

In men's play, UD sophomore Austin Longacre defeated Brian Fitzgerald 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to improve to 18-7 on the season. He is within three victories of the single season school record of 21 wins, held by Jon Zolin.

UD junior Nolan Greenberg fell to Anastas Budagov 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles but freshman Chris Hincker rolled past George Mason's Dan Schneider 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 and sophomore Camilo Perez edged Harwood Hoskins 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 4. At 15-5 on the year, Hincker leads the Blue Hens in winning percentage and needs just four more victories to break the UD record for wins by a freshman.

Senior Jonathan Schwartz was a 7-5, 6-1 winner over Jordan Lipstock at No. 5 singles while freshman Nick Piacente defeated Martin Brown 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 for his first career win.

At No. 1 doubles, Longacre and Greenberg defeated Fitzgerald and Schneider 8-3. Schwartz teamed up with sophomore Andrew Blumberg to win at No. 2 doubles and Hincker and Perez closed out the day with a win at No. 3.

In women's play, UD senior Susan Pollack defeated Lindsay Gray 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles for her fourth consecutive win and the 61st of her decorated career. Freshman Courtney Fenimore topped Stacey Berlinger 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 and sophomore Elena Berry maintained the momentum with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Sarah Dieffenbach at No. 3.

UD junior Amanda Campbell picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Julia Moscato in No. 4 singles, senior Alexa Dragonette defeated Aryn Christman 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 and freshman Ivana Petrich defeated Meredith Cutchin 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.

Pollack and Fenimore dominated Gray and Berlinger 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Campbell and Dragonette won at No. 2 and Berry and Petrich won at No. 3.

The Blue Hens will return to action Friday, March 28, when they take on Drexel University in Altamonte Spring, Fla.
