The new Web site “incorporates the newest principles of content managed Web-design, presents a new logo for BAMS and employs excellent navigation capabilities to make finding what you need easy,” says James M. Jones, director of BAMS. “It also contains information on other programs and centers in the University and across the country.”
The Web site's homepage has a message from Jones in which he describes BAMS as “a multidisciplinary program with basic course and program content in the social sciences and humanities.” He goes on to describe the BAMS curriculum as one that “surveys the historic, cultural and social phenomena of people of African descent in America and throughout the diaspora and provides students with individualized, in-depth learning experiences.”
A “What's New” section appears in the upper left-hand corner of the Web site to keep visitors up to date on happenings such as new faculty signings, awards and events.
An easy-to-use navigation system allows visitors the opportunity to quickly learn more about the history of BAMS, the undergraduate program, faculty, resources, scholarly activities and community outreach.
In the “About Us” section, visitors are given the opportunity to download the first issue of the BAMS newsletter, Ubuntu, which will be published twice a year and gives information on current activities of the BAMS faculty and students.
