UD football announces coaching staff changes
Brian Ginn
2:32 p.m., Feb. 29, 2008--Several University of Delaware football coaching staff changes were announced Friday by Fightin' Blue Hens Head Coach K.C. Keeler.

Veteran UD offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca has resigned to join the staff at Rutgers University, while Brian Ginn has been promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and Damian Wroblewski has been promoted to assistant head coach and run game coordinator.

Keeler said he also expects to make additional title changes within the staff and to announce the addition of two new staff members in the coming weeks.

Ciarrocca, who served on the UD staff as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach since Keeler's first season in 2002, will become wide receivers coach at Rutgers. “I'm very thankful to the administration at Delaware for doing everything in their power to keep Kirk here,” Keeler said. “Kirk turned down some other Division I offers to stay, but Rutgers is a great fit for him. We were fortunate to have him for six years. He did a tremendous job here but we are excited about his new opportunity.”

Ginn has served as running backs and wide receivers coach and his eight-year tenure at UD is the longest among staff members. Wroblewski joined the staff last season as offensive line coach.

Ginn was a four-year standout at quarterback at UD and captain of the 1999 team. He joined the staff as a graduate assistant in 2000, moved to receivers coach in 2001, and served as running backs coach from 2002 until 2005. He moved back to receivers coach in 2006.

Damian Wroblewski
Wroblewski is a graduate of Lafayette College and in his first season with the Blue Hens last fall guided one of the Colonial Athletic Association's most formidable offensive lines. He will continue to serve as Delaware's recruiting coordinator.

“In my six years with Brian, I've always thought that he would be an outstanding coordinator,” Keeler said. “Kirk did a great job preparing him. Brian is very bright and has a great feel for what we do and does a great job working with our players. We are excited about having him take over his new role. Damian brings so much to the table and this promotion adds to the respect he deserves. I really see the offense as a collaborative effort among the staff, and they bring this together.”

The UD football team will open preseason practice March 15 with the annual Blue-White spring scrimmage set for April 19. The Blue Hens will return 13 players with starting experience on offense and 12 on defense from last year's team that went 11-4, advanced to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision title game, and earned the Lambert Cup Trophy and ECAC Team of the Year Award as the top team in the East.
