Dworsky honored for water resources work

8:41 a.m., April 22, 2008--Bernard L. Dworsky, a policy scientist in UD's Institute for Public Administration, received the Achievement Award at the Water Resources Association of the Delaware River Basin's 26th annual recognition dinner on Wednesday, April 16, at the Down Town Club in Philadelphia, Pa.

Dworsky was recognized at the dinner for his leadership in developing and implementing sound water resource management plans and programs within Delaware as the former director of the Water Resources Agency for New Castle County, where he served for 26 years. He is currently senior adviser for the Water Resources Agency and a staff member of the Institute for Public Administration.

Also recognized at the ceremony was John A. Hughes, secretary of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). Hughes received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his many years of leadership in water resource management and regulatory programs as both secretary of DNREC and director of the Division of Soil and Water Conservation.

The Water Resources Association of the Delaware River Basin was founded in 1959 to represent the four states that share the resources of the Delaware River Basin, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The association is a regional nonprofit group that serves as an advocate for sound water resources management.
