UD figure skaters finish second in competition 11:19 a.m., March 8, 2007--The University of Delaware Collegiate Figure Skating competition was held Sunday, March 4, at the Fred Rust Ice Arena. The team from UD finished second of nine universities in the competition, just six points behind Dartmouth College. It was the closest the UD has come to first place in many years, and the placement qualifies the team to compete in intercollegiate nationals to be held April 13-15 at Dartmouth College. The following skaters scored points for the team in their respective events: Pre-Juvenile freestyle: first place, Naomi Nishio, junior; second, Leah Ciekot, freshman. Juvenile freestyle: third, Danielle Buckley, freshman; fourth, Lily Intermediate freestyle: fifth, Lauren Asprooth, sophomore. Novice short: second, Katie Royce, junior; third, Courtney Bohen, freshman. Novice freestyle: second, Mallory Houghton, sophomore; fourth, Adena Neglia, sophomore. Junior short program: first, Jazmyn Manzouri, freshman; second, Laura Stefanik, junior. Junior freestyle: first, Laura Stefanik, junior; fourth, Kim Holzthum, sophomore. Senior short program: third, Kaitlyn DeRoy, senior. Senior freestyle: fourth, Annie Kowtoniuk, senior; fifth, Kaitlyn DeRoy, senior. Preliminary dance: second, Emma Phibbs, junior. Juvenile dance: second, Emma Phibbs, junior. Intermediate dance: fourth, Meghan Otto, freshman. Novice dance: third, Angie Goldman, freshman; fourth, Leanna Laor, freshman. Junior dance: second, Meghan Reeves, senior. Senior dance: first, Meghan Reeves, senior. Gold dance: second, Andrea Varraux, junior. Low maneuver team: first, Danielle Jacobs, senior; Leah Ciekot, freshman; Lily Jaffie-Shupe, freshman; and Leanna Laor, freshman.
