mtvU comes to UD cable TV

4:28 p.m., April 7, 2006--MTV's 24-hour college television network, mtvU, is now on UD campus cable channel 51, providing students with yet another entertainment source for music videos and movies.

Until a few weeks ago, mtvU ran only at night on UD's Student Television Network channel to supplement student programming. Now campus cable viewers have access to mtvU 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Broadcasting to more than 700 campuses and 6 million students across the country, mtvU is the largest, most comprehensive television network just for college students. It can be seen in dining areas, fitness centers, student lounges and residence hall rooms on campuses nationwide.

“We've installed mtvU plasma monitors in the Carpenter Sports Building and students are already participating in our exclusive contests and programs,” Victoria Nastri, mtvU affiliate relations said.

With music as its mainstay, mtvU plays nearly everything, including hip-hop, rock, punk, reggae and dance, with a focus on up-and-coming artists who are creating a buzz on campuses. Twice an hour, MTV News airs stories on everything from music downloading to new artists and bands.

Besides giving students round-the-clock access to free music and videos, the network also features news updates from CBS News, including reports from around the world and issues making headlines on campuses.

Features on daily campus life include fashion, dating, sports, work, study, travel, food and more, and every week, mtvU's team of VJs visits campuses, meeting students and bringing the latest music and mtvU events with them.

The network also provides a variety of opportunities on-air, online and on campus for student-generated programming to get national exposure. mtvU is the only national network that airs student-submitted news shows, reality shows, comedies, talk shows, dramas, sports, music, out-takes and blooper clips.
mtvU also helps fund student community service projects. For more information, visit [www.mtvu.com/contests/mtvu_grants/].
