Influential rap artist to perform at The Bob
3:03 p.m., April 10, 2006--Hip-hop and rap artist Common, along with other backing musicians, will perform at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 27, in the Bob Carpenter Center, in a concert sponsored by the Cultural Programming Advisory Board. Doors open at 7 p.m. Originally performing under the name Common Sense, Common was highly influential in rap's transformation during the '90s and is best-known for going against the grain of gangsta rap during the height of its popularity. His style, a blend of jazz-like syncopations with lyrical riffs, has won him a devoted cult audience and his message of political change and social consciousness cuts across racial and generational boundaries. Tickets, now on sale, are $22 in advance for UD students, faculty and staff with a UD ID and $27 for the general public. Tickets at the door are $25 for UD students, faculty and staff with UD ID, and $30 for the general public. UD students, faculty and staff may purchase up to four tickets, including two tickets at $22. For more information, call Ticketmaster at (302) 984-2000 or the UD box office hotline at (302) 831-4012. |
