Brett Veach to supervise Blue Hen athletic events

Brett Veach
9:42 a.m., March 17, 2005--Brett Veach, a standout football player at the University of Delaware and a member of the athletics staff as a graduate assistant since 2002, has been named supervisor of intercollegiate athletics events, it was announced Wednesday by UD Director of Athletics Edgar Johnson.

Veach replaces Shane Brey, who left UD last month after serving seven years in the position. He will serve as the primary event manager for all home athletic events, oversee the athletic awards system, coordinate NCAA and UD drug testing programs and assist with the management of postseason championships on campus.

In addition, Veach will assist with the operational needs of men's and women's basketball, field hockey, volleyball and women's lacrosse.

He will work closely with Jennifer Chapman, UD operations associate.

After graduation from UD, Veach served as a volunteer football coach during spring practices in 2002 and 2003. He completed a practicum with the athletics department in 2004.

A native of Mt. Carmel, Pa., Veach, enjoyed an outstanding four-year career with the Fightin’ Blue Hens as a wide receiver, running back and kick returner. He played a key role in UD’s Atlantic 10 Conference championship in 2000, when the Hens reached the NCAA Division I-AA semifinals.
