Kendro scores three goals in women’s soccer win

Allison Kendro
10:33 a.m., Sept. 20, 2004--University of Delaware junior Allison Kendro scored all three goals to lead the women’s soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Temple University on Sunday afternoon in Ambler, Pa.

The victory is the fourth straight for the Fightin’ Blue Hens (5-1-2), who have shut out their last three opponents.

Kendro scored her first goal 20 minutes into the game and followed with a second just two and one-half minutes into the second half on a pass from junior Mary Beth Creed.

Kendro scored her third goal on a pass from junior defender Melissa Kunisky.

Kendro is the seventh player in UD history to score three goals in one game, and the first since Brittany Campbell did so in 2000, also against Temple.

Goalkeeper Lindsey Shover started for the Hens and made three saves in 70 minutes of play. She was relieved by Bonnie Mills.

The Hens opened weekend play with a 3-0 victory over the University of Maryland Baltimore County on Friday at the Delaware Mini-Stadium. Kendro opened the scoring in that game, as well, and freshman Katie Beekman added two goals.

The Blue Hens will open its Colonial Athletic Association season with a game against defending conference champion William & Mary at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24, at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.
