Hens’ Brittany Wright sets record in 55-meter dash

11:03 a.m., Feb. 28, 2005--University of Delaware sophomore Brittany Wright captured the 55-meter dash in a school record time of 7.20 seconds at the George Mason University Winter Games held Sunday afternoon.

Wright broke the previous UD record of 7.21 set by Dionne Jones in 1989 and qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) regional championships, to be held March 5-6 at the Reggie Lewis Track Complex in Boston.

Also Sunday, Wright finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in 25.80.

Other top finishers for UD were Domonique Carter, who finished third in the long jump and fifth in the 400-meter run; Kristen Frustillo, who finished 10th in the 55 meters; Rayna Horsey, who finished sixth in the 200-meter dash and eighth in the 55 meters; and Asha Quant, who finished fourth in the 400 meters and fifth in the long jump.

Carter, Frustillo, Horsey and Quant finished fourth in the 4 x 400-meter relay.
