Time to update 'Find It' links on the UD web

4:50 p.m., Jan. 7, 2003--Now is a good time to be sure department information is correctly listed in Find It [http://www.udel.edu/main/findit/a.html] on the UD web site. Information Technologies-Management Information Services (IT-MIS) is working to update and correct links on the site, and feedback from faculty and staff is needed.

“The purpose of Find It is to connect UD web visitors with their destinations,” IT-MIS Associate Director Joy Lynam said. “We use official and unofficial naming conventions to make those connections. For example, the registrar’s office is listed in Find It under ‘R,’ ‘U’ and ‘O’ for ‘Registrar,’ ‘University Registrar’ and ‘Office of the University Registrar.’ When in doubt, our strategy is to list all possible variations.”

Be sure programs, centers, majors, minors and departments are listed correctly. Recently renamed units and programs should check to see that current names and their variations are listed correctly in Find It. Also report obsolete Find It entries using the “Comment on this page” link at the bottom of each page.

In addition, if a link anywhere on the UD web links to a more current address, report the old link to MIS so it can be updated. Use the “Comment on this page” link at the bottom right corner of any UD web page that requires updates, corrections or additions.

“We have mail lists that we use to share and update info on developing, maintaining and testing our web sites with staff and faculty,” Lynam said. “If you are the staff member responsible for the content of a UD web site, or if you are the staff member who maintains the HTML of the web site, please write to [udit-mis@udel.edu] and ask to be added to the mail lists.”
