UD lacrosse players to compete as all-stars

June 6, 2002--Three University of Delaware lacrosse players will participate in postseason all-star games on Saturday afternoon, June 8, in Baltimore.

Goalkeeper Laurie Tortorelli and midfielder Brooke Mulligan of the UD women's lacrosse squad will be playing for the South squad in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) North-South Senior All-Star game at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, at Loyola College's Curley Field.

Attackman Chris Bickley of the UD men's team will play for the South squad in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association North-South Senior All-Star game at 3 p.m., Saturday, at Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University. Both games are sponsored by STX Inc.

Tortorelli, a goalkeeper, earned third team IWLCA All-American honors this past season while also earning IWLCA All-Region first team honors for the third straight year. She was a four-year starting goalkeeper for the Blue Hens and led the team to the 1999 America East title and to the 2000 NCAA Tournament.

She started all 16 games during the 2002 season and scored four goals while dishing out three assists and collecting 14 groundballs. She capped her career with totals of 24 goals and 16 assists.

Bickley, a senior attackman, was a third-year starter in 2002. He started 13 of the 14 games and was the team's sixth leading scorer with 13 goals and two assists for 15 points. He scored two goals in three different games and had 13 groundballs. He finished his career at Delaware with 35 goals and 13 assists.
