In its series of America's Best, Time magazine in June selected University of Delaware graduate Susan Stroman, AS '76, as best Broadway director. Stroman, who is shown here with comedian Mel Brooks at the 2001 Tony awards, won twin Tonys for directing and choreography for The Producers, a musical version of Brooks' 1968 film. "Nobody can hold a candle to her," Brooks said. She also won Tony awards for best choreography for Contact (2000), Show Boat (1995) and Crazy For You (1992).
