SUSAN E. GOPLEN

Susan Goplen is currently a Lead Developer in USGS’s Rocky Mountain Geographic Science Center. She has worked on several natural hazards support applications including Natural Hazards Support System (NHSS), Fire Data Ordering (FDO), NORTHCOM’s Interagency Operating Picture (IOP) and DOI Watch. During the 2005 Hurricane season she was key to the support provided to federal agencies via the suite of natural hazards monitoring systems that she’s responsible for. Numerous hurricane specific data layers were added and updated in IOP, DOI Watch and NHSS along with the development of custom capabilities to assist emergency responders during and after hurricane events. She has extensive experience with C, C++, JavaScript, PERL, HTML and XML. She has been with the USGS for 20 years, during which time she has been involved with systems administration, hardware and software support and systems development.
